Position Empowers Boyle to Lead the Fight in Congress to Protect Social Security, Medicare, and Other Vital Programs

WASHINGTON, DC — House Democrats have unanimously re-elected Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) as Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee for the 119th Congress, set to begin in January.

"I am honored by the trust my Democratic colleagues have placed in me to continue leading the House Budget Committee," said Ranking Member Boyle. "Next Congress, the committee will play a critical role in standing up to the Republican agenda of cutting Social Security, Medicare, and other essential programs, while granting tax breaks to billionaires and large corporations. While I am open to working with Republicans where we find common ground, I will not hesitate to push back against proposals that harm working families."

"The prospect of a second Trump administration, with extremists like Russel Vought in key positions, poses a real threat to the middle class. For me, this fight is personal. As the son of a janitor and a school crossing guard, I understand the challenges hard-working families face, and I am committed to fighting every day to ensure our economy works for them."

The House Budget Committee plays a critical role in shaping the nation’s fiscal policies, setting federal spending priorities, and advancing legislation that impacts every American household. House Republicans have already signaled their intention to use the Budget Committee to advance extreme reconciliation bills in the 119th Congress. Boyle, who has served on the committee since 2017, is Ranking Member in the 118th Congress.

Boyle’s re-election solidifies his role as a leading advocate for working-class Americans and a steadfast defender of programs that ensure economic security for American families.
