Boyle Slams Trump for Firing Labor Stats Chief

August 1, 2025

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after President Trump fired the Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“The economy is getting worse, and the job market is slowing down. That’s the truth. Instead of taking responsibility and helping the American people, Donald Trump fired the person who reported the facts.

This kind of interference puts the credibility of government data at risk and shakes confidence in the economy. The American people deserve leaders who work to fix the economy, not ones who make it worse and lash out when the numbers don’t go their way.”
