Boyle Statement 8 Days from Republican Shutdown: “Enough is enough.”

November 9, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement as House Republicans continue driving our nation closer to a government shutdown:

"Here we are again, just days away from yet another Republican shutdown," said Ranking Member Boyle. "House Republicans may have a new Speaker, but their disastrous partisan tactics haven't changed a bit. They are gambling with our economy in an attempt to force cruel budget cuts through Congress, and just like last time, it's working families who would pay the price for their brinksmanship. Republicans should be working to lower costs for families, but instead they're forcing millions of parents to wonder how they'll put food on the table."

"Our communities at home and our allies around the world are waiting for support, but they'll have to keep waiting until House Republicans figure out how to do their jobs. Enough is enough: it's time to pass funding legislation that prevents a shutdown, brings down the cost of living, and protects our national security."

With just over one week until a Republican shutdown, House Budget Democrats re-launched a webpage highlighting the consequences of a government shutdown in all 50 states. The webpage features a map detailing just how devastating a government shutdown would be for American families: forcing millions of our troops and government employees to work without pay, undermining our economic progress, threatening the safety of our communities, and more.
