Boyle Statement on August CPI Inflation Data

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported the annualized CPI inflation rate for August increased to 2.9 percent:

“Donald Trump is the single greatest con artist in American history. He promised to lower prices, but his reckless policies keep driving them higher. He promised to help the working class, but his Big Beautiful Bill for Billionaires is lining the pockets of the mega-rich, while working families are left with cuts to health care, rising costs, and vanishing jobs.

The only promises he has kept are to his billionaire buddies; everyone else is left paying the price.”
