Boyle Statement on Biden Budget for FY24
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement following the release of President Biden’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2024. Later today, President Biden will travel to Philadelphia and join Ranking Member Boyle in his District (PA-02) so they can give Americans a public and transparent accounting of Democrats’ plan to invest in America.
“President Biden has put a fiscally and socially responsible budget on the table. His budget shows the American people exactly who Democrats are fighting for: the working families and middle-class Americans who built this country.
“By lowering everyday costs for families, protecting and strengthening Medicare and Social Security, investing in our communities and American leadership, and making the wealthy and corporations finally pay their fair share, Democrats will build on our historic progress and improve our fiscal outlook by cutting $3 trillion from the deficit — all while ensuring no one making less than $400,000 a year pays a penny more in new taxes.
“This is in stark contrast to the Republican agenda which would harm our already fragile economy and endanger American livelihoods. While Republicans are pushing for $3 trillion in deficit-busting tax cuts for the rich and corporations, President Biden has a plan to lower the deficit by $3 trillion. While Republicans plot ruthless and devastating cuts to core programs, Democrats are investing in housing, child care, health care, education, clean energy, and empowering the working families who make our country great — and who need their government to have their backs. While Republicans are threatening a catastrophic default, Democrats believe the full faith and credit of the United States should never be used as a bargaining chip.
