Boyle Statement on CBO Tariff Analysis

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office released updated analysis on the impact of Trump’s tariffs:

“As CBO Director Swagel confirmed to the Budget Committee this week, Trump’s tariff taxes are driving up the cost of living and making life harder for families across the country. With prices for everything from electricity to groceries climbing, the last thing working- and middle-class Americans needed was another tax hike.

For decades, the same Republicans who brand themselves as champions of fiscal discipline have added trillions to the debt with giveaways for the ultra-wealthy. Now they expect Americans to pay the price for their choices through Trump’s tariff taxes. I’ll keep fighting to end these reckless tariffs and stop Republicans from rewriting the tax code to benefit billionaires and big corporations at everyone else’s expense.”
