Boyle Statement on CPI Inflation Falling to Lowest Level in Three and a Half Years
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported an annualized CPI inflation rate for September of 2.4 percent:
“Month after month, week after week, we are seeing more good economic news for American families,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “Last week’s jobs report beat expectations with a quarter of a million new jobs, and today’s CPI report shows inflation falling to the lowest level in three and a half years. Today, inflation is down, jobs are up, and wages are outpacing prices. There can be no doubt that our economic recovery here in the United States is the envy of the world.”
“Alongside President Biden and Vice President Harris, House Democrats lowered health care costs for millions, capped the price of insulin and lowered prescription drug costs for seniors, and took on corporate monopolies. While Democrats continue working to lower costs, House Republicans would undo this progress in the name of tax cuts for billion-dollar corporations. The last thing American families need right now is for Trump’s Project 2025 agenda to saddle them with higher costs and higher taxes.”
