Boyle Statement on December CPI Inflation Data
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported an annualized CPI inflation rate for December of 2.9 percent:
"Today’s CPI report shows that while we’re making progress, inflation remains a tough challenge for working families. Under President Biden and House Democrats, we’ve taken real steps to bring down costs and deliver relief to the middle class. But let’s be clear—there’s more work to do.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump and Republicans continue to cling to reckless, inflation-fueling policies like tariffs that jack up prices for consumers. Even worse, they’re focused on giving massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and well-connected, instead of offering real solutions to help middle-class families.
House Democrats will keep working to lower costs and build an economy that works for everyone—not just billionaires and special interests."
