Boyle Statement on February 2024 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 275,000 jobs in February:
"As President Biden said in his State of the Union address last night, the American economy is exceptionally strong and growing as fast as ever," said Ranking Member Boyle. "Today's jobs report is just the latest evidence of that strength – and it brings the total number of jobs created since President Biden took office to nearly 15 million. The stock market is up, inflation is down, and unemployment has been below 4 percent for more than two years now."
"We cannot forget how we got here. President Biden inherited an economy in crisis thanks to his predecessor who mismanaged a pandemic and lost more American jobs than any president in modern history. Our progress since then did not happen by accident – it happened because when our nation needed bold action, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan and made historic investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act. Democrats delivered, and while extreme MAGA Republicans play partisan games and push extreme policies, we are still working for the American people."
