Boyle Statement on FY25 Biden Budget

March 11, 2024

Ranking Member Boyle: “While extreme MAGA Republicans look to turn back the clock on everything from Social Security to reproductive freedom to democracy itself, we will never stop fighting for every American.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement following the release of President Biden’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2025:

“Once again, President Biden has put forward a budget that keeps our commitments to working families while also charting a fiscally responsible path forward. As the President has said before, a budget is a statement of values, and this budget proudly values our middle class, our seniors, our veterans, and all of our communities.”

“This budget puts families first: Taking action to lower the cost of living, protect Social Security and Medicare, and ensure the ultra-wealthy and greedy corporations finally pay their share. Like the President said, billionaires should never be paying a lower tax rate than teachers and nurses — and with this budget, we are investing in the American people without raising taxes a penny on anyone making less than $400,000 a year.”

“Compare these broadly popular ideas to the bleak and backward priorities in House Republicans’ FY25 budget. Their plan calls for making drastic cuts to vital programs like Medicaid, food assistance, and education, all while ensuring Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy and well-connected can be extended. And even after making appalling cuts that harm families and put our economy at risk, they still rely on trillions of dollars in budget gimmicks to pretend to balance. The GOP’s cruel budget is an insult to the middle class and to basic mathematics — thankfully, we now have a plan that puts the interests of American families over the profits of billion-dollar corporations.”

“As President Biden laid out in his State of the Union address, Democrats have a plan to keep building a better future for our families. While extreme MAGA Republicans look to turn back the clock on everything from Social Security to reproductive freedom to democracy itself, we will never stop fighting for every American.”
