Boyle Statement on House Budget Republicans Advancing the “America Last” Budget

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after House Budget Republicans advanced a budget resolution with reconciliation instructions that would add nearly $100 billion to the deficit, largely to fund President Trump’s war in Iran, which continues to raise costs here at home:

“Donald Trump and Republicans keep telling us America cannot afford to lower the cost of health care, food, housing, or energy for working families. Yet today, House Budget Republicans voted to add nearly $100 billion to the deficit, largely to bankroll the most unpopular war in American history.

Trump’s disastrous war in Iran is driving up gas prices, while Republicans’ so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ is ripping health care and food assistance away from millions of Americans. Despite the damage their agenda has already caused, Republicans rejected commonsense Democratic amendments to lower costs, protect working families, and put the American people first.

I will continue fighting this ‘America Last’ budget, which puts endless foreign wars ahead of working families here at home.”
