Boyle Statement on House Passage of Republicans’ “America Last” Budget
WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after House Republicans passed their latest budget resolution, which does nothing to lower costs for American families:
“Today, House Republicans passed yet another budget that puts the American people last. Instead of lowering the cost of groceries, gas, housing, or health care, this budget adds almost $100 billion to the national debt to bankroll the most unpopular war in American history.
Donald Trump promised to make life more affordable, but his failed policies have only driven costs higher for working families. I was proud to vote no, and I will continue to lead the fight against this extreme Republican agenda while fighting for policies that lower costs and improve the lives of the American people.”
Trump’s health care cuts and his “Big Beautiful Bill” have already ripped health care away from more than eight million Americans, stripped food assistance from over four million Americans, and made health care more expensive for tens of millions more. This latest Republican budget does nothing to reverse that damage.
Ranking Member Boyle led House Democrats’ opposition to the budget resolution on the House floor today. A transcript and video of his opening remarks are available here.
