Boyle Statement on House Passage of Rescissions Package Cutting Public Broadcasting and Undermining America’s Global Standing

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after House Republicans advanced President Trump’s rescissions package that would undermine America’s global standing and slash funding for public broadcasting:

“Republicans just voted for layoffs on Sesame Street in order to fund their obsession with tax breaks for billionaires. This bill doesn’t solve our fiscal challenges or do a thing to lower costs for American families.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Trump and his Republican followers in Congress are handing China and Russia a massive strategic gift by undermining our global standing and gutting bipartisan programs like PEPFAR that have saved millions of lives.”
