Boyle Statement on House Vote to Terminate Trump’s Canada Tariffs

February 11, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement after the House voted to terminate President Trump’s tariffs on Canadian imports:

“President Trump’s reckless tariffs are a tax increase on working families, and they are making the cost-of-living crisis worse.

For months, I have been sounding the alarm about these tax hikes and fighting to end them. Meanwhile, Republicans have continued to protect tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy while the President’s policies drive costs higher for everyone else.

Today, a small number of Republicans finally joined the effort to limit some of the damage. But the vast majority of them continue to enable Trump’s agenda, despite tariffs costing American families a staggering $1,700.

I will keep using every tool available to roll back these foolish tariffs and lower costs for the American people.”
