Boyle Statement on January 2024 Inflation Data

Feb 13, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported an annualized inflation rate for January of 3.1 percent:

“Once again, today’s CPI data shows inflation has fallen sharply from its peak,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “Across America, families are benefiting from cooling inflation, historic job creation, and world-leading economic growth. And with average wage increases outpacing inflation by thousands of dollars since 2021, it’s no wonder that consumer confidence is at a two-year high. Democrats know there is more work to be done, and we won’t stop working to bring this progress to every family.”

“That’s why we passed historic legislation to bring down the price of health care and prescription drugs, and it’s why we’re fighting to take on corporate price-gouging by eliminating junk fees. Every single House Republican voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, and every single day they continue to waste time on partisan stunts that do nothing to help American families. While House Republicans are busy working on behalf of Donald Trump, House Democrats will keep working to give families the breathing room they need.”
