Boyle Statement on January 2025 Jobs Report

February 7, 2025

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 143,000 jobs in January:

“Today's jobs report is yet more proof that Democratic policies have rebuilt our economy after the chaos and devastation of Donald Trump’s mismanagement of the pandemic. In 2020, Trump’s failures left millions out of work and families struggling. For four years, Democrats worked to clean up his mess—creating millions of jobs, raising wages, and rebuilding an economy that works for everyday Americans.

But the job isn’t done. Prices are still too high, and while Democrats are taking action to lower costs, Trump offers nothing but empty rhetoric. Worse, his policies would make things even harder—gutting vital programs, driving up costs, and prioritizing billionaires like Elon Musk over hardworking families. House Democrats will never stop fighting to build an economy that works for everyone—not just the wealthy few.”
