Boyle Statement on July 2024 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 114,000 jobs in July:
“Forty-two consecutive months of job growth under the Biden-Harris administration have added up to over 15.8 million jobs and an economy that is the envy of the world,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “With 114,000 jobs added in the last month and 2.8 percent GDP growth in the last quarter, our economy is continuing to grow despite the Fed’s needlessly high interest rates. The American workforce is strong, but it’s time for the Fed to finally do its part and begin lowering rates.”
“When President Biden and Vice President Harris took office, they inherited an economic and public health crisis unlike anything the world had ever seen. They got to work on day one — and worked with Democrats in Congress to deliver historic legislation which invested in our infrastructure, rebuilt our manufacturing economy, and got America back on its feet. On the other hand, Trump’s Project 2025 agenda would turn back the clock by raising costs on seniors and families while showering the ultra-wealthy with new tax cuts. While Republicans have made clear they support Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, Democrats have been clear too: We’re not going back.”
