Boyle Statement on July 2026 CPI Inflation Data

August 12, 2026

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the annualized Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate for July 2026 was 3.4 percent:

“Month after month, Donald Trump continues to prove that he doesn’t ‘think about Americans’ financial situation.’ Over the last year and a half, Trump and Republicans in Washington have ripped health care away from millions of Americans, forced families to pay expensive tariff taxes, and started a disastrous war with Iran.

Today’s report is yet another reminder that Trump’s promise to lower costs on ‘Day One’ was a lie. American families deserve better.”
