Boyle Statement on July 2026 Jobs Report

August 7, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 23,000 jobs in July:

“President Trump calls this the ‘greatest economy we’ve ever had.’ That might be true for his billionaire donors. For everyone else, Trump’s tariff taxes and disastrous Iran war are raising costs, slowing growth, and hurting the job market.

His cost-of-living crisis has already taken over $3,500 out of the average family’s pocket. I’ll keep fighting to build an economy that works for working people, not Trump’s billionaire donors.”
