Boyle Statement on July Jobs Report

Aug 4, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC  —  Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 187,000 jobs in July:

“Even as Republican fiscal incompetence threatens our recovery and causes a downgrade to our credit rating, Bidenomics continues to deliver for working families,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “With another 187,000 jobs added in July, we are now at 13.4 million jobs created since President Biden took office, a historic achievement made possible by the investments Democrats delivered for the American people. Across our nation, communities are seeing revitalized infrastructure, more jobs, lower costs, and the benefits of an economic agenda that puts the middle-class first.”

“Unfortunately, our world-class economy remains under threat of MAGA extremists hell-bent on making draconian cuts to vital investments while handing out deficit-ballooning tax cuts to the wealthy and well-connected. They tried holding the debt ceiling hostage to achieve their goals – and now they're trying again by pushing us toward a costly shutdown. I urge my Republican colleagues to keep their word, stick to the bipartisan budget agreement they supported, and stop forcing the American people to pay for their costly political stunts.”
