Boyle Statement on June 2024 Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 206,000 jobs in June:
“Even in the face of needlessly high interest rates, today’s jobs report shows an American economy that is still roaring,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “When President Biden took office, he inherited an unprecedented economic and public health crisis — and working with Democrats in Congress — turned it into one of the greatest comeback stories in our nation’s history. We are the envy of the world, and it’s time for the Fed to stop jeopardizing our success and begin cutting rates.”
“Those who were betting against America bet wrong, and President Biden and House Democrats will not stop working to lower costs and build on our progress. Unfortunately, Donald Trump and his MAGA allies in Congress want to take us backward with an agenda that would slash taxes for billionaires, cut Social Security, and end Medicare as we know it. Republicans’ bleak vision for our country would make the ultra-rich even richer while raising costs for the middle class. Their extreme agenda is a threat to every single working American — and we will keep fighting to ensure it never becomes reality.”
