Boyle Statement on March 2025 Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 228,000 jobs in March:

“Trump’s betrayal of the middle class couldn’t be more brazen. While American families spent last night watching their retirement savings go up in smoke, Donald Trump spent the evening golfing with his billionaire donors. And while they push trillions in tax giveaways for those billionaire donors, Republicans are trying to punish middle-class Americans with the largest tax increases and the largest Medicaid cuts in US history.

This dangerous far-right agenda is an existential threat to our economy – and today’s jobs report doesn’t yet capture the impact of Trump’s economic stupidity. The warning signs are flashing – small businesses are panicking, consumer expectations are spiraling, and Trump’s tariffs are going to kill the domestic jobs he pretends to care about.
