Boyle Statement on May 2026 CPI Inflation Data

June 10, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the annualized Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate for May 2026 was 4.2 percent:

“Today’s inflation data confirms what people already feel every time they go to the grocery store, fill up their gas tank, or pay their bills: costs are still too high, and Donald Trump is making it worse with his tariff taxes and reckless war in Iran.

Instead of focusing on lowering costs for working families, Trump remains obsessed with his vanity ballroom and sending taxpayer-funded payouts to the violent thugs who stormed the Capitol on January 6th.”
