Boyle Statement on May Jobs Report

Jun 2, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 339,000 in May:

“With 339,000 new jobs created last month, American families are continuing to benefit from our historic economic recovery that is the envy of the world. From the American Rescue Plan to the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, President Biden and Congressional Democrats have shown what happens when you deliver legislation that puts working families first: over 13 million new jobs have been created, inflation is in decline, and unemployment remains near record lows as more Americans re-enter the workforce.

“House Republicans tried – and failed – to sabotage this historic progress with their reckless brinkmanship and their disastrous Default on America Act. Whether Republicans are threatening to default on America's bills, spend more on tax giveaways to the wealthy and big corporations, or defund vital programs, Democrats will always fight back and protect the American people and our economy from the extreme MAGA agenda.”
