Boyle Statement on May Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 272,000 jobs in May:
“Another month, another jobs report showing the American economy remains the envy of the world,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “Despite interest rates remaining elevated, we are still seeing a historically strong labor market in terms of both job gains and pay growth. Thanks in part to the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act, U.S. manufacturing construction reached an all-time high in April. The historic investments delivered by President Biden and congressional Democrats have produced over 15 million jobs and ensured the future is being built in America.”
“By contrast, Donald Trump is a convicted felon who lost 2.7 million American jobs over his term in office. He’s done enough harm to our economy, and yet extreme MAGA Republicans are now talking about shutting the government down just to please him. Democrats will never support a shutdown for Donald Trump, and while Republicans are working for him, we are working on behalf of the American people.”
