Boyle Statement on November Inflation Data
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported an annualized inflation rate for November of 3.1 percent:
"Today's CPI report once again shows that inflation is staying down even as millions of Americans are benefiting from a strong job market," said Ranking Member Boyle. "Our nation's economy is leading the world: unemployment is near historic lows, consumer sentiment is up, and wages are outpacing inflation. Democrats are fighting to bring this economic progress to every family – which is why we're working to lower the cost of living, take on corporate price-gouging by eliminating junk fees, and bring down health care costs."
"While House Democrats are working for the American people, House Republicans are attempting to rip the rug out from underneath them. Their extreme agenda would raise the cost of living, cut Social Security and Medicare, and gut the investments that help families make ends meet – all while making it easier for the ultra-wealthy to cheat on their taxes. Democrats won't let that happen: we're fighting for the people, and while House Republicans sow chaos and waste time with political stunts, we will keep doing our jobs."
