Boyle Statement on October 2024 Jobs Report

November 1, 2024

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 12,000 jobs in October:

“Today’s report is an outlier that tells an incomplete story, and our economy remains resilient despite the impacts of a major strike and two devastating hurricanes,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “President Biden and Vice President Harris have now delivered 45 straight months of job growth for American families. Jobs are up, inflation is down, and the Biden-Harris Administration has delivered more jobs in a single term than anyone before.”

“We cannot forget that this progress was no accident. After inheriting an economy that lost nearly 3 million jobs over the course of Donald Trump’s presidency, President Biden and Vice President Harris took action to lower costs, invested in middle-class families, and reinvigorated American manufacturing. The last thing our economy needs right now is for MAGA Republicans to threaten the progress we’ve made by imposing higher costs and higher taxes on the middle class with Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.”
