Boyle Statement on October PCE Inflation Data

November 27, 2024

WASHINGTON, DCToday, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported an annual Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index of 2.3 percent for October:

“No matter what Trump calls it, a 25 percent tax on all goods from Mexico and Canada would be catastrophic for American families,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “From gasoline to groceries, Trump’s dangerous tariff threats would send the price of everyday goods skyrocketing and erase the progress we’ve made on inflation. If Trump doesn’t reverse course, he will spike inflation, spark a trade war with our allies, and devastate our economy. Sadly, it will be American families who pay the price for Trump’s reckless ideas, all while he lavishes billion-dollar corporations with more tax cuts.”
