Boyle Statement on Republicans’ “legislative Frankenstein of dangerous MAGA demands”
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued a statement on House Republicans' continued schemes to hold the U.S. economy hostage:
"This proposal is not about fiscal responsibility or protecting the full faith and credit of the United States — it's a legislative Frankenstein of dangerous MAGA demands meant to help the Speaker placate his most extreme members.
"There never has been and never will be anything fiscally responsible about refusing to pay America's bills. If House Republicans were serious about averting a catastrophic default they would support a clean bill to raise the debt ceiling. It's long past time for Republicans to bring their budget out of hiding and proceed with regular order. Today's political theater makes it obvious that they do not have the votes to govern.
"House Republicans remain in chaos and do not have a unified agenda beyond attacking Democrats' historic accomplishments and recycling the same bad ideas they have been pushing — and Americans have been rejecting — for decades."
