Boyle Statement on SCOTUS Ruling Trump Cannot Fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump does not have the power to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook:

“Today’s decision confirms that Donald Trump’s attempt to fire Governor Cook based on fabricated allegations — all to distract from his disastrous record on inflation — was plainly illegal. The Federal Reserve’s independence is a cornerstone of our economy, and Trump’s attack on that independence was a direct threat to Americans’ pocketbooks.”
