Boyle Statement on Senate Passage of the Republican Budget Resolution

April 23, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after Senate Republicans passed their FY26 budget resolution – the first step in the reconciliation process – and sent it to the House:

“In the dead of night, Senate Republicans adopted a budget resolution that does nothing to lower costs for the American people.

Instead, Republicans are focused on handing ICE and CBP another $70 billion—on top of the enormous funding they already provided in their Big Ugly Law—without any of the commonsense reforms the American people are demanding. Republicans say we can’t afford to help working families, but they have no problem writing another massive check to these unaccountable, out-of-control agencies.

As Ranking Member of the Budget Committee, I will do everything I can to stop this bill and keep fighting for policies that actually lower costs and make our communities safer.”

Republicans have no intention of using these funds to reverse the cost-of-living crisis they created and deliver health care for American families. State and district data on the Trump-Republican cost-of-living crisis, including rising costs and health care coverage losses, is available here.
