Boyle Statement on September Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 336,000 jobs in September:
"Today's employment report highlights an American economy that remains strong, even as Republican dysfunction in Washington continues to threaten our progress," said Ranking Member Boyle. "With help from the investments made by Congressional Democrats and President Biden, the labor market remains robust, wages are outpacing inflation, and the United States continues to lead other major economies in our post-COVID recovery."
"Unfortunately, while Democrats continue working to strengthen our economy, House Republicans have sent Congress spiraling into a state of absolute chaos. After driving our nation to the brink of default, and then to the brink of a government shutdown, extreme MAGA Republicans have now jettisoned their own Speaker and left our institution paralyzed. The American people don't have time for House Republicans' political games — Democrats are focused on lowering costs and building on our recovery, but we need willing partners across the aisle to abandon MAGA extremism and join our efforts."
