Boyle Statement on Trump’s Reckless FY2026 Funding Request

May 2, 2025

WASHINGTON, DCCongressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s Fiscal Year 2026 funding request:

“Donald Trump’s 2026 funding request isn’t just irresponsible and dangerous—it’s deceitful. It was deliberately written to confuse the public and conceal Republicans’ full agenda. But here’s the truth: the Trump Administration is pushing devastating cuts to education, public safety, health care, and other programs that middle-class families rely on.

These reckless cuts couldn’t come at a worse time—just as Donald Trump drives our economy closer to recession. Instead of offering relief, Republicans are doubling down on policies, such as the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history, that make it even harder for working families to get by.

And the hypocrisy is staggering. While preaching fiscal responsibility, they’re trying to ram through a $7 trillion giveaway to billionaires—blowing a $14 trillion hole in the national debt.”
