Boyle Statement on Trump’s Section 301 Tariff Taxes

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after President Trump announced he would be imposing new tariff taxes on American families:

“Federal courts have repeatedly struck down President Trump’s illegal and costly tariff taxes. These new tariffs are more of the same: a nationwide sales tax that will make life even harder for families already struggling under the costs of Trump’s reckless war in Iran. I will continue fighting for trade policies that actually benefit the American people.” 

According to the Joint Economic Committee, the average American family has already paid $3,500 more due to inflation, tariffs, and Trump’s disastrous Iran war. This new tariff tax would only add to this total.
