Boyle Statement on Trump’s Tariffs

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on Donald Trump’s decision to implement blanket tariffs on Mexico and Canada:

“President Trump’s tariffs on Mexico and Canada are nothing more than a tax on working families. They will drive up prices on everyday goods—hitting families at the grocery store, the car dealership, and the gas station. Donald Trump promised to lower costs on day one. Instead, he’s making it worse. Another broken promise. No one asked for this.

And it doesn’t stop there. Trump and Republicans in Congress are pushing the largest Medicaid cuts in history and trying to rip away food assistance from millions—all to fund more giveaways to their billionaire donors.

You can’t claim to stand with the middle class while making it harder for families to afford groceries, health care, and basic necessities. I’ll keep fighting these cruel policies and standing up for the people I represent.”
