One Year After Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” Boyle Announces New Legislation to Protect Americans’ Health Care

July 8, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, announced the Protecting Americans’ Health Care Act, legislation to fully reverse the largest cut to Medicaid in American history. The Medicaid cuts were included in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which was signed into law one year ago and supported by nearly every Republican in Congress.

“One year later, Trump’s so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ has proven to be anything but beautiful. More than 8 million Americans have already lost their health care, and millions more are seeing their costs rise — all to give billionaires the largest tax break they have ever received.

It’s about to get worse. The most devastating health care cuts in this law are still ahead, with millions more Americans at risk of losing access to care next year. That is why I am introducing this legislation: to protect Americans’ health care, lower costs, and make sure working families never have to choose between filling their gas tank and seeing a doctor when they are sick.”

As Ranking Member of the Budget Committee, Boyle has led the fight against the devastating impacts of Trump’s reconciliation bill. He previously filed a discharge petition to stop Trump’s cuts to Medicaid. Boyle also introduced a resolution urging the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to work with states to issue much-needed guidance on the impending Medicaid cuts.
