Trump’s Project 2025 Would Raise Prescription Drug Costs For Seniors

On 59th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, Budget Democrats Launch Interactive Map Showing Impacts of Project 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, July 30th, Budget Committee Democrats marked the 59th anniversary of the Medicare and Medicaid programs with data on the devastating impacts of Project 2025 for seniors.

Ranking Member Boyle on the Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid:

“For 59 years, Medicare and Medicaid have served as a critical lifeline for seniors, families, children, Americans with disabilities, and so many others,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “From day one, President Biden and Vice President Harris have defended these bedrock programs and worked every day to bring down health care costs — including through the historic provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act which allows Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices and caps seniors’ insulin and out-of-pocket drug costs.”

“Unfortunately, extreme MAGA Republicans have a different, darker vision for our health care system. Trump’s Project 2025 agenda would repeal the life-saving provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act, raise premiums on seniors, and risk their access to doctors and services under Medicare. House Republicans’ budget plans show they are 100 percent on board with Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, which will give Big Pharma a windfall while putting the tens of millions of Americans who get their health coverage through Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA, on the chopping block. Make no mistake: Trump’s Project 2025 agenda will take us backward and leave more Americans sick, uninsured, and burdened with crushing medical debt.”

New Map Shows Impact of Project 2025 Across America:

Donald Trump’s Project 2025 would undo the progress President Biden and Vice President Harris have delivered to lower prescription drug prices for seniors. While Congressional Democrats have worked with the Biden-Harris administration to cap out-of-pocket costs and lower the price of insulin, Project 2025 would take us backward by repealing the Inflation Reduction Act. Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda would raise prescription drug costs for at least 18 million seniors, while removing Medicare’s historic new ability to negotiate lower prices.
