Yarmuth Statement on Updated CBO Score

Mar 23, 2017

Washington, D.C.—Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on the updated score of the Republican health care bill from the Congressional Budget Office:

“The CBO has reconfirmed tonight that the Republican plan will cause millions of Americans to lose their coverage and out-of-pocket costs to skyrocket, while subjecting middle-aged Americans to an age tax.  They do all this to give $1 trillion in tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy, but they may not stop there.  Republicans are currently debating changes that would allow insurers to end coverage for prescription drugs, mental health, maternity and newborn care, and a range of other health care needs. It is astounding and appalling that Republicans in Congress are negotiating with the health and well-being of American families. They have no moral compass.”
