Boyle Slams Reckless GOP Budget Bill, Republicans’ Vote to Block Amendment Barring Taxpayer Dollars for January 6th Insurrectionists
WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after House Republicans passed a partisan reconciliation bill that does nothing to lower costs for the American people. Republicans also voted to block Boyle’s amendment to prevent taxpayer dollars from going to January 6th insurrectionists.
“Today, House Republicans rammed through another partisan bill that does nothing to lower costs, nothing to help working families, and nothing to address the real challenges facing the American people. They also shamefully blocked my amendment to ensure not one penny of taxpayer money ever goes to the criminals who assaulted police officers on January 6th.
Donald Trump still refuses to rule out sending taxpayer dollars to these thugs, and this bill does nothing to stop him. Instead of standing up for law enforcement and the American people, House Republicans left the door open to taxpayer-funded payouts for January 6th rioters. What a disgrace.”
