Boyle Statement on February Inflation Data
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported an annualized inflation rate for February of 3.2 percent:
“Today's data shows the annual inflation rate remaining sharply down from its peak in mid-2022,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “As President Biden highlighted in his State of the Union address, American families are doing better today than they were three years ago. Wage increases are outpacing inflation, nearly 15 million jobs have been created under President Biden, and Democrats are still working to lower costs and fight corporate price-gouging and junk fees.”
“Yesterday, President Biden further explained his vision to build on our economic recovery with his FY25 budget proposal. His plan, which invests in all Americans, is a stark contrast to the backward budget introduced by House Republicans, which covers up tax cuts for the rich with benefit cuts to seniors and those in need. Democrats will never trade nutrition assistance for corporate tax cuts, and while Republicans jeopardize our economy with reckless budget schemes, we will continue fighting for middle-class families.”
