Boyle Statement on Passage of Senate Budget Resolution

April 5, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after Senate Republicans voted to pass a budget resolution that adds trillions to the debt and doubles down on historic Medicaid cuts:

“Once again, Donald Trump and his sycophantic followers in Congress are showing us who they really work for. This Republican budget would deliver a staggering $7 trillion in giveaways to billionaires and big corporations while making the largest cuts to Medicaid in US history. After today, I don’t want to ever hear another word about ‘fiscal responsibility’ from the party that just chose to blatantly lie about exploding the deficit and national debt.

With Donald Trump tanking our economy and imposing the largest tax hike in history on working families, the last thing they need is for Republicans to rip away affordable health care and force kids to go hungry, but that’s exactly what Senate Republicans just voted to do. This fight isn’t over — and as the top Democrat on the Budget Committee I will continue to fight, along with my House Democratic colleagues, to do everything possible to fight back against Donald Trump’s betrayal of middle-class families.”
