Boyle Statement on Republicans’ Funding Bill That Rips Away Health Care and Raises Costs for Millions

September 19, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on the Republican government funding bill:

“Republicans are threatening to shut down the government because they refuse to end their all-out war on health care. Their plan would gut Medicaid, dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and slash Medicare, ripping coverage from 15 million Americans and sending health care costs through the roof. I stand ready to support a budget that protects working families’ health care.”

Yesterday, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirmed that Republicans’ health care plan would strip coverage from 15 million Americans and send premiums soaring for millions more. On top of that, their policies will impose the largest Medicare cut in American history.
