Boyle Statement on Republicans’ Partisan Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Pennsylvania Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on House Republicans' partisan continuing resolution:

“With just 13 days until the government runs out of money, House Republicans' obsession with cruel spending cuts is driving us closer to yet another Republican shutdown,”  said Ranking Member Boyle.  “Just hours after announcing a partisan continuing resolution, the 'no' votes from their own party are already piling up. After reneging on the bipartisan budget agreement, they don't have the votes to pass their own annual funding bills, they don't have the votes to keep the government open, and they may not even have the votes to keep their Speaker in office.”

“It's clear that as long as House Republicans continue pushing funding bills that cater to extreme MAGA Republicans – and reject the bipartisan budget agreement they already negotiated – they will continue pushing our nation towards a government shutdown. Make no mistake: with its authors already admitting that it will cause a shutdown, this fantasy far-right continuing resolution is nothing more than a transparent attempt to make legislative arsonists look like responsible adults.”
