Chairman Yarmuth: White House’s Incomplete Mid-Session Review a “Dereliction of Duty”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Yarmuth, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, released a statement on the White House’s incomplete mid-session review. The Administration’s intentional omission of economic and budget projections during a pandemic and unemployment crisis is unacceptable and contrary to House Democrats’ focus on mitigating economic pain and fostering an inclusive recovery.

“The mid-session review released by the White House today is a dereliction of duty and a new low for Mr. Vought’s OMB,” said Chairman Yarmuth. “The report not only fails to provide Congress with key updated economic and fiscal projections, it provides zero guidance or leadership on the fundamental challenges facing our nation: how best to move forward, protect public health, or rebuild our economy in the face of a deadly, highly contagious virus that has already taken the lives of more than 120,000 Americans.

“Concealing economic forecasts and withholding critical information will make it harder for Congress to do our job and help American families. It's hard to see how this irresponsible report is meant to serve anyone except the President and his diminishing electoral prospects.”
