House Budget Democrats Introduce “Investing in America’s Future” Budget

Oct 2, 2017

Washington, D.C.—House Budget Committee Democrats today released their FY18 budget “Investing in America’s Future.” The Democratic budget stabilizes the country’s fiscal outlook while providing critical investments needed to build a stronger future for our families and communities. The budget stands in stark contrast with the Republican budget that will be brought to the floor this week. This shockingly extreme budget makes drastic  cuts to programs that are vital to millions of Americans, while giving huge tax breaks to millionaires and wealthy corporations.

The Democratic budget is built on four key principles:

  • Make economic growth, good-paying jobs, and opportunities for American families a top priority
  • Increase investments in our economic future
  • Strengthen health care by building on the successes of the Affordable Care Act
  • Protect our national security

“The House Democratic budget reflects the needs and priorities of the American people,” said House Budget Committee Ranking Member John Yarmuth. “Unlike the Republican proposal, which betrays hardworking families to give massive tax breaks to the wealthy, our budget invests in education, infrastructure, health care, and our national security.  It will create economic growth, good-paying jobs, and opportunities for all Americans.  It is a responsible budget that values the American people above all else.”
