WASHINGTON, D.C.Moments ago the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (H.R. 1319), a reconciliation bill sponsored and spearheaded by House Budget Chairman John Yarmuth (D-KY-03) to deliver President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. The legislation will provide critical COVID relief and economic support to the American people while addressing the twin health and economic crises facing the United States.

A statement from Chairman Yarmuth is below:

“This is a monumental day for this Congress and for the American people. We have passed the American Rescue Plan and are sending it to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law. This aggressive plan will save lives and help defeat this pandemic once and for all. It will provide economic relief to nearly every American family and hard-working individual, get vaccines into the arms of millions of Americans, and get our schools open safely. We will cut child poverty in half because of this bill and generate a strong and inclusive economic recovery. This is a lifesaving and life-changing turning point in our nation’s fight against COVID-19. Today, we met this historic crisis with historic progress.”
