NEW REPORT & BILL TEXT: Budget Committee Continues to Pave Way for American Rescue Plan

Feb 19, 2021

Washington, D.C.— Today, Kentucky Representative John Yarmuth, Chair of the House Budget Committee, released legislative text for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 ahead of Monday’s markup in the House Budget Committee. Having received submissions from nine Committees of Jurisdiction, the House Budget Committee, as provided for under Section 310 of the Budget Act, has bound the provisions together, without substantive change, into a single measure—a reconciliation bill. The Committee released a new report underscoring the dire need for COVID relief and expeditious congressional action to ensure workers, families, small businesses, and communities across the country can make it to the other side of these twin health and economic crises.

“This reconciliation bill is the next step toward implementing the American Rescue Plan and finally changing the direction of these crises,” said Chairman Yarmuth. “Without this relief package, conditions will spiral further out of control and families will suffer needlessly. Multiple variant strains of the novel coronavirus are now infecting Americans across the United States, and our vaccine rollout and efforts to contain the virus are in desperate need of resources. We are in a race against time, and aggressive, bold action is needed before our nation is permanently scarred by the human and economic costs of inaction. We have the plan and the fiscal space, we have the American people behind us, and now we have the bill to get it done.”
