Yarmuth Responds to Trump’s Infrastructure “Plan” and Upcoming Visit to Kentucky

Jun 5, 2017

Washington, D.C.—Today Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on President Trump’s infrastructure week and his upcoming visit to Kentucky on Wednesday to discuss his charade of an infrastructure plan:

“When President Trump comes to Kentucky and Ohio on Wednesday to talk about infrastructure he’ll be showing up empty-handed. Despite the overwhelming need for more funding, the President’s budget cuts the Highway Trust Fund by nearly $100 billon; cuts nearly $1 billion from Army Corps, the agency that oversees construction on waterways; and woefully underfunds his own infrastructure plan - which doesn’t even guarantee investments to rebuild our crumbling roads, bridges, and rails.  This is a complete charade and the people of Kentucky and Ohio should send the President back to Washington to start over.”
