Yarmuth Statement on CMS Affordable Care Act Rule

Feb 15, 2017

Washington, D.C. — Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rule on the Affordable Care Act marketplace:

“The proposed rule on the Affordable Care Act released today by the Trump administration is the latest attempt to sabotage the law and put insurance companies back in charge. Once implemented, the rule will reduce coverage, increase out-of-pocket costs, and make it harder for American families to get the health insurance they need,” said Yarmuth. “Our country has made tremendous progress because of the ACA and the American people do not want and cannot afford for us to squander it.  This rule will jeopardize health care and add to the chaos Congressional Republicans are already injecting into the health insurance marketplace.  It should be abandoned.”
