Yarmuth Statement on GOP Tax Scam Conference Report

Washington, D.C. – Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the conference report of the GOP tax scam, which is scheduled for votes in both the House and Senate next week:

“This hastily concocted conference agreement makes clear that the Republican tax scheme is rotten to its core. Congressional Republicans somehow found a way to give even bigger tax breaks to millionaires, while still increasing taxes and health premiums for millions of middle class families. This plan will blow at least a trillion dollar hole in the budget, which is why Republicans are already plotting cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and anti-poverty programs to pay for it. The American people strongly oppose this tax scam and the era of austerity it will usher in. For their future and the economic security of our nation it must be defeated.”
